Open plain refers to a large open field. It's a place reference.
I think that the meaning is good... it makes me think of a prairie and it could suggest open mindedness. Another implication of an open field is that it represents the heart (ie the heartland), which I think is an adorable meaning

Reply:a savanna is an actual geographical term for a wide open, grassy plain. Like the mid-west in the United States, or, the typical plains people think of when they think of where antelope, meerkats, and lions live in Africa.
Typically (but not always) Savannah (with the h) is a name, be it for a girl or city, and savanna is the open grassland.
