Where can I find japanese last names and their meanings?
Without knowing the Chinese character (kanji), one cannot know the meaning. If you find a name online and can copy and paste the text into an online kanji dictionary, then you can piece together the meaning.

wikipedia lists some common last names and if you click on it, you can get their meanings

Reply:If you are using a Mac the Apple dictionary is the best. As for Japanese last names know that while they can be translated they really do not mean much to the Japanese themselves. If you are going to try to translate sumo wrestlers names know that they are "show names". Grand champion Takanohana's real name is Hanada. The former is meaningless, the latter mean flower field. Rattsa ruk. Mike
