Reply:Until 150 years ago, many Japanese people could not have their family names, but only Samurai and Shounin (dealers) class are allowed to do. Most peasants are called their names and the names of their home villages.

Then Meiji revolution, known as Meiji Ishin, abolished the regulation, and all Japanese have to come to have their own family names.

We don't get family names in the context of which 'good' or not. But we know which names have histories. Tokugawa is well known for descendants of Shoguns. '----miya' is known for relatives of Tennou family, but this is just a possibility. And there are some distinguished business founders' family names.

Well, Kanjis have meanings and give us some impression, but it is not a deal. Family names are just a sign for a person. Family names used to be treated for a representation of their relatives, but now are not treated with importance.

We sense some beauty or easiness to write in some family names. But It depends on the composition of Kanjis, mostly its shapes.
Reply:haruno means something like blooming fields

So haruno hana means Blooming fields of flowers.

But idk if people name their children hana.
