I was told by an idiot that Katana means long sword and Wakazashi means short sword but I want to know for sure.
All names have meanings so what does Katana and Wakazashi mean?
Katana (刀 in Kanji) is sword.
Waki-zashi (脇差しin Kanji) literally means side-hold or side-feeble(weaker). So Wakizashi is short sword.
Most of Samurai had both Katana and Wakizashi.
Reply:I found no translation but only that they are samurai sword types.
